Toni Kroos not keen on playing in China or the United States

The Real Madrid midfielder also spoke about the upcoming Champions League tie against his old club: "To win it, sooner or later you have to face Barça or Bayern".

Toni Kroos was in a comfortable position within the team when he decided to quit Bayern Munich in the summer of 2014 to embark on a new challenge in his professional with Real Madrid. The Spanish outfit paid just 25 million euros for the  Germany international - one of the shrewest investments in recent years. Since then he has become one of the team's references: he has managed to fill the vacancy left by Xabi Alonso and bring his exquisite technique to the fore both with his passing, set-piece deliveries and shooting.

Toni Kroos is looking forward to taking on Bayern Munich

Kroos will be up against his former club in next month's Champions League quarter finals - a competition which he has won twice - once with Bayern and once with Real Madrid. Kroos insists that he doesn't mind meeting one of the big favourites to lift the trophy at such an early stage: “I'm not fazed by meetting Bayern in the quarters. If you want to win the Champions League, sooner or later you are going to meet Bayern or Barça and have to beat them. I have always enjoyed the challenges which football present and it's nice to play against the best”, the player told German magazine, Faz Sport. As for Bayern coach Carlo Ancelotti, Kroos said: "He's a coach who talks a lot to his players, he creates a good atmosphere and all of us were sad when he left Real Madrid".

Kroos says Zidane has "an aura about him"

The midfielder added that he enjoys an excellent relationship with Zidane and believes that the coach likes the way he plays: “He transmits a very clear idea to the players. He is not the kind of coach who will give a 20 minute motivational talk because he doesn't need to. He gets what he wants just with his presence alone, his personality is synonymous with success”.

China and the United States, not an option, says Kroos

As for the future, Kroos has ruled out moves to China or the United States, the latter being the destination chosen by his old team mate Bastian Schweinsteiger: "I want to play for several more years at the highest level and so China and the USA are not really viable options for me".
