Brady reveals the secret ingredient to Belichick’s Patriots success
The NFL legend spoke about his ex-coach’s methodology and what made him so successful.

Tom Brady and Bill Belichick did more than win football games together. Over nearly two decades, their partnership reshaped the National Football League and sparked debates about greatness that still continue today.
When the New England Patriots selected Brady with the 199th pick in the 2000 NFL draft, few could have predicted what would follow.
Brady went on to become one of the most decorated quarterbacks ever, compiling records in passing yards, touchdowns, starts, and wins across a 23-season career in the league. He never played a down with a team that couldn’t reach the playoffs and steered two franchises to Super Bowl victories, including a record seven titles in total.
Belichick, meanwhile, had already built a reputation as a tough coach long before Brady arrived. As head coach of the Patriots, he created what later became known as the “Patriot Way”. His approach saw the side claim six Super Bowls, 17 division crowns, and an unmatched run of success from 2001 to 2019.
Belichick is “one of the greatest motivators” says Brady
Speaking on an episode of the Barstool Sports podcast, Brady called Belichick “the best coach to ever coach in the NFL” and “One of the greatest motivators”, adding that had “such high expectations” and made “every day important.”
“There are so many things that are just uncanny about his coaching style,” he added.
“March was really important because it led to April. And April was really important because it led to May, and so forth all the way up to the start of the season,” Brady said, explaining how months work. "And if we’re fortunate enough to make it to the last game, we were so prepared because every day was important. There was never a day where, you know you could go in there and underperform on a practice and him not call you out," the player-turned-commentator explained. “It’s hard to live up to that standard every day, but when you look back, we all appreciate the coaches that got the best out of us.”

Together, Brady and Belichick achieved what looked to be impossible in the modern NFL. Their nine Super Bowl appearances and six championships still define one of the most dominant stretches in sports history and their combined honours sheet includes an NFL-only undefeated regular season in 2007 and the longest streak of winning seasons in the league’s salary-cap era.
