Justine Bateman is getting older and she doesn’t care what other people think about it. The 57-year-old has been in the limelight since she was a teenager allowing many people to watch her grow up on the screen.

Although the star has been vocal about embracing natural aging and avoiding cosmetic procedures before. The former ‘Family Ties’ star didn’t realize the obsession people have had with her aging face until she googled herself.

Googling herself

“I needed to google something to do a little research and remind myself of something that happened when I was famous, so I put in my name, googled my name, Justine Bateman, and then the autocomplete came up which was ‘looks old,’” Bateman told 60 Minutes Australia

She continued, “And I was only 42 at the time … and I was like, ‘What?’ And I looked at the pictures that they had as evidence and I couldn’t see what they were talking about.”

The interviewer then asked Bateman whether people could possibly find the aging process to be beautiful, to which she responded, “I just don’t give a s**t. I think I look rad. I think my face represents who I am. I like it.”

Enjoying life

Bateman then explains how she enjoys looking her age and wouldn’t do anything to change it. The writer and director goes on to say that she feels sad for women who use Botox and fillers to prevent wrinkles and believes “they’re just not enjoying life.”

“I feel sad that they are distracted from the things they’re meant to do in life, with this consuming idea that they’ve got to fix their face before anything else can happen,” Bateman confessed.

She continued, “Forget about your face! That is what I’m saying. Get rid of the fear that your face being wrinkled is going to ruin a bunch of opportunities for you.”

Considered plastic surgery

However, despite her firm stance on aging naturally, that doesn’t mean she hasn’t considered it or is completely content with her appearance.

“You can certainly look in the mirror and go, ‘Oh, if I just had like a lower facelift I would get rid of this skin that catches the light, and then I could have that operation where you go into the eyelid, or you know take some of the skin out and this that’s hanging over now, over the eyelid, you can get that removed,’” Bateman explained.

Bateman’s most recent book, ‘Face: One Square Foot of Skin,’ also focuses on the subject of aging. The book is a collection of stories from 47 women about their thoughts regarding aging and the pressure society puts on them to look younger.
